Emil was appointed Chief Analytics Officer in 2016. In this role he is accountable for developing the Commonwealth Bank Group’s competitive advantage in data and analytically driven insight and delivering value from this advantage.
Emil joined the Group in Sydney in 2010 as Executive General Manager, Portfolio Risk Management. He then moved back to New York in 2014 to create the Group Decision Sciences team which is developing world-class capabilities in behavioural economics, data science, modelling and testing.
Prior to joining CBA Emil spent over 15 years at First Manhattan Consulting Group where he was co-head of the Risk Management and Capital Strategies practices. During his consulting career with First Manhattan, Emil has advised over 50 leading global and US banks, insurance companies and private equity firms on risk management, business strategy, corporate finance and analytics. Emil has had articles published in professional publications and has frequently presented at industry conferences.
Prior to consulting, Emil worked in global markets with heritage company JP Morgan & Co. He also conducted research in public policy at New York University and was with the US Army before attending university.
Emil splits his time between Sydney and New York.
